Meet Mariah Apollon one of our Master Level Clinician.

Mariah Apollon is a trauma-informed therapist with a passion for empowering children, adolescents, and families to navigate life challenges. Her experience spans from providing crisis intervention at non-profit agencies with runaway and homeless youth to working in private practice. Apollon holds a Master of Arts and Educational Specialist degree in Professional Counseling from Seton Hall University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a National Board-Certified Counselor and a Licensed Associate Counselor in New Jersey. With a strong foundation in evidence-based practices and six years of experience across diverse settings, Mariah fosters safe and supportive spaces for growth and healing.

Throughout her career, Apollon has implemented trauma-informed frameworks to assist clients in identifying and processing past traumas and attachment injuries. This approach aims to create a safe and supportive environment, fostering healing and stability within the family unit. Apollon’s prior clinical experience demonstrates her versatility in therapeutic approaches. Her expertise lies in working with children, adolescents, and adults grappling with anxiety, depression, relationships, trauma, grief, behavioral issues, and academic or career transitions. Mariah skillfully employs a range of therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), narrative therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused approaches, tailoring each intervention to the unique needs of her clients. Her earlier experience at New Pathway Counseling also involved facilitating group and individual counseling treatment for adolescents struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health challenges. Apollon recognizes the importance of story-telling and mindful curiosity in engaging in conversation surrounding growth and change.

Adept at navigating complex family dynamics, Mariah demonstrates exceptional skill in mediating conversations and facilitating constructive communication between family members in conflict. Her ability to create an open space for dialogue allows families to work through challenges and rebuild stronger relationships. In addition to her clinical expertise, Apollon possesses a strong background in client support. During her time working at a mental health tech start-up, she ensured that the needs of both healthcare providers and patients were addressed promptly and efficiently with insurance companies. Here, she honed her communication skills and ability to navigate complex situations, fostering positive working relationships and buy-in between patients and providers.

Apollon’s commitment to serving others extends beyond her professional work. She actively aligns her volunteer work with organizations which seek to address prejudice and intergroup relations, cultural enrichment, and elderly populations. She has also served as an AmeriCorps worker, supervising and training other volunteers in crisis management and working towards family reunification. These experiences highlight her dedication to fostering positive social interactions and advocating for vulnerable populations. Notably, she also serves as a mentor for at-risk youth, providing crucial companionship and guidance, academic and vocational support to children in the foster care system or those at-risk for displacement. Her volunteer work reflects her desire to create a more just and equitable world, where all individuals can thrive.
